Carlogie Dam Fishings             06/09/10

  All night fishing on Saturday night at Carlogie Dam Fishings. The night session started at 10pm and finished at 6am, taking part were Mike Johnston from Arbroath, Derek Lam from Arbroath, Colin Smith from Arbroath, Dave Simpson from Forfar, Steve Duncan from Forfar, Garry Flemming from Arbirlot, Kerin Fleming from Arbirlot, Macaulie Clark from Forfar, Bruce Thompson from Arbroath, Doug Thain from Arbirlot and George Lovie from Arbroath, during this session 110 fish were caught top rod was Bruce Thompson with 19 fish caught and returned. Colin Smith was a close second with 17 fish caught and returned. A good evening was had by all, Jim Tait from Forfar caught 21 fish returned 16 and kept 5 fish weighing 10lb 8ozs caught on a green pea.

  E. Coutts from Dundee caught 7 fish returned 5 and kept 2 fish weighing 4lb 4ozs caught on a CDC. McN Batchelor from glen clova caught and kept 2 fish weighing 4lb 8ozs caught on a black hopper. At the Dam on Sunday 8th August the A C Sturrock Pairs took place.

16 anglers took part with 97 fish caught.

The winners were Dave Simpson Forfar and Fraser Robertson Forfar who between them caught 17 fish weighing 45lbs.

The Runners Up were Wullie Thompson Dundee and Jim Doyle Montrose who between them caught 14 fish weighing 39lbs.

3rd place were Colin Murray Carnoustie and John Robb from Dalgety Bay who caught 15 fish weighing 38lbs.

  The fish in Carlogie Dam are still being caught on a wide variety of flies, Everything from small dries to bunnyleaches. Brownies around 7-8lb are being caught quite often especially in the evenings.

 At Carlogie Dam Fishings this week 10 anglersd took part in the Colin Fairweather Trophy. The winner of the trophy was Dave Simpson from Forfar who caught 14 fish for a total weight of 38lb 5ozs. Second place was colin murray from Carnoustie who caught 11 ish for a total weight of 29lb 14ozs. In third spot was Wullie Reilly from Dundee who caught 8 fish for a total weight of 21lb.

  Dave Moodie from Carnoustie caught 6 fish for a total weight of 14lb 10ozs. John Robb from Dalgety Bay caught 6 fish for a total weight of 13lb 12ozs. Keith Clark from Dundee caught 5 fish for  toal weight of 11lb 8ozs. Ryan McLeoud from Carnousiecaught 3 fish for a weight of 7lb 3ozs, Ryan also caught a tagged fish netting him £100. Colin Fairtweather from Carnoustie caught 3 fish weighing 6lb, he also won the prize for the heaviest fish, a rainbow weighing 2lb 1oz. George Nicol from Carnoustie caught 3 fish weighing 5lb. In all 59 fish were caught for a total weight of 147lb 4ozs.

 At Carlogie Dam fishings this week the Bob Wallace trophy was held on Sun 2nd May, 82 fish were caught for a total weight of 224lb. Thi winner with 22fish for a weight of 62lb4ozs was John Robb from Dalghety Bay. Runner up was Colin Murray from Carnoustie with 21 fish for a weight of 59lb 14ozs, in third place was Derek Birse from Forfar with 13 fish weighing 35lb 8ozs. The heaviest fish of the competition was caught by Dave Moodie from Carnoustie was a rainbow weighing 2lb 8ozs, George Nicoll from Carnoustie caught 8 fish weighing 20lb 5ozs. Colin Fairweather from Carnoustie caught 5 fish weighing 11lb 12ozs. Bob Wallace from Dundee caught 3 fish weighing 6lb 8ozs. The competition ended on a high with the last fish caught a brownie of approx 7lb8ozs. Jim Tait from Forfar caught 20 fish returned 15 and kept 5 fish weighing 11lb 4ozs caught on a lime green fritz.  The troutmaster fish off was held at Carlogie Dam Fishings. It was very close at the weigh in with Frank Ferrier from Arbroath winning by only 2ozs. Frank caught and kept 5 fish plus the bonus for a weight of 18lb 10ozs. In runner up spot was Andy Orourke from Dundee who caught and 5 fish plus the bonus weight of 18lb 8ozs. Third Spot went to Sandy McAllan from Arbroath with 5 fish plus time bonus weight of 17lb 4ozs. Tony Fenemore from Dundee caught and kept 5 fish plus time bonus weighing 17lb 2ozs. Paul Gilchrist from Dundee caught and kept 5 fish plus time bonus for a weight of15lb 9ozs, Paul also caught and returned a cracking rainbow weighing 7lb 10ozs. Dave Simpson from Forfar caught and kept 5 fish plus time bonus for a weight of 13lb 13ozs. Martin Roberts from Arbroath caught and kept 5 fish plus time bonus for a weight of 12lb 6ozs.
